Dr. Anand Veeravagu
Stanford Healthcare

Dr. Anand Veeravagu

Dr. Veeravagu graduated from the Johns Hopkins University Biomedical Engineering program with a focus on spinal cord injury and regeneration. Committed to medical device development, neuroregeneration, and non-invasive imaging he accepted a position to complete his MD at the Stanford University School of Medicine. While a medical student, Dr. Veeravagu worked with neurosurgery and the molecular imaging program to develop novel, non-invasive imaging tools and treatments for malignant neoplasms of central nervous system.

Dr. Veeravagu subsequently completed his neurosurgical residency at Stanford University. As a resident, Dr. Veeravagu was appointed by the President of the United States as a White House Fellow in 2012, serving as Special Assistant to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chuck Hagel to guide Department of Defense Policy on traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and mental health treatment for the United States military. One of 14 people from around the nation to be selected, Dr. Veeravagu served as a speech writer, national security advisor, and health consultant directly to the Secretary of Defense.

After completion of his neurosurgical residency, Dr. Veeravagu was awarded the prestigious Neurosurgical Research and Education Foundation Post-Residency Clinical Fellowship Grant and completed his fellowship training in minimally invasive and complex deformity spine at Stanford University with both neurosurgical and orthopeadic training. Dr. Veeravagu also completed a clinical scholar rotation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine focused on endoscopic and robotic spine surgery.

Dr. Veeravagu’s research efforts are focused on the utilization of large national databases to assess cost, quality, and effectiveness of various treatment alogirthms as well as predictive analytics. Dr. Veeravagu is also an author and writes about current events, health policy, and public health-related topics for the San Francisco Chronicle, The Daily Beast, The BBC, and the Huffington Post.

 

Dr. Daniel Aghion

Dr. Daniel Aghion

Dr. Daniel Aghion is a neurosurgeon at Memorial Neuroscience Institute, where he treats patients with a wide array of spine disorders, including severe degenerative spine diseases, spine trauma, cancer in the spine, spine tumors, peripheral nerve surgery and more.

Born and raised in Boston, he went to the University of Michigan and fell in love with neuroscience. He attended Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, in Tel Aviv, Israel, before completing a residency at Rhode Island Hospital, and a complex spine fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

He credits his international training with giving him a solid base for how to approach people from different cultures and a more hands-on approach. He fully embraces Memorial’s focus on patient- and family-centered care and the system’s multidisciplinary approach, which enables doctors from different specialties to work together to provide the most comprehensive care.

Dr. Gregory Hahn

Dr. Gregory Hahn is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery. He earned his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Philadelphia also at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He was chosen to be chief resident in orthopedic surgery for the University of Pennsylvania residency program. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. He is currently a partner at Children’s Orthopedic & Scoliosis Surgery Associates in St. Petersburg, FL. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida Department of Orthopedic Surgery and practices primarily at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL where he was a prior Chief of Staff. Dr. Hahn is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, and the Scoliosis Research Society. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, several textbook chapters, and a NIH research grant. Dr. Hahn’s areas of interests include spinal deformities in children and adolescents, pediatric lower extremity deformity, and pediatric trauma.

Dr. Dennis DeVito
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Dr. Dennis DeVito

Orthopedic residency at Duke University, followed by fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University. Started career at Vanderbilt University Dept. of Orthopedics and served as director Spina Bifida program and chairman of the Child Abuse Committee. Later moved to Atlanta to join orthopedic program at the Scottish Rite hospital, now known as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where I am a staff pediatric orthopedist and the Director of the Spine Program. Broad experience with treating complex limb deformity and trauma, but now almost singularly focused on spinal deformity and related spinal conditions in children. Special interest in spondylytic disease of the adolescent athlete. Also research interest in spinal robotics with over 12 years of experience using this kind of guidance for screw placement, and have presented data nationally and internationally on this subject.

Dr. Jeffrey Coe

Dr. Jeffrey Coe

Dr. Coe has been in practice in Silicon Valley of California (San Francisco Bay area) since 1992. His practice is devoted to the surgical and non-surgical care of spinal disorders. He is in practice with the OrthoNorCal group who his primary office is in Los Gatos, California.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from The University of Notre Dame in 1975. He graduated from Washington University (St. Louis) School of Medicine with his M.D. in 1979.

He served in the United States Army from 1979 until 1992. His internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery were performed at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco from 1979 to 1984. Dr. Coe performed his Fellowship in Reconstructive Spinal Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1987 to 1988. While serving in the Army, he was assigned to the 41st Combat Support Hospital as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery in Saudi Arabia and Iraq in support of Operation Desert Storm.

Dr. Coe’s primary interests are adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery, cervical spine surgery, minimally invasive surgery and cervical and lumbar disc arthroplasty surgery. He is an author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications has contributed chapters to 5 textbooks of spine surgery.

Dr. Coe is a Fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society, a member of the Cervical Spine Research Society, a member of the North American Spine Society, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Christina Hardesty

Dr. Christina Hardesty

Dr. Chris Hardesty is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Hardesty received her M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. She completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and also completed two fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and Neuromuscular Orthopedics at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Case Western Reserve Hospital, in Cleveland, OH and Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE.

Dr. Hardesty’s specialties include Scoliosis and Spinal Deformities, Cerebral Palsy, Neuromuscular Disorders, Spasticity Management, and pediatric orthopedic trauma. She is a member of numerous organizations including the Scoliosis Research Society, the Growing Spine Study Group, POSNA, and AACPDM. Her research interests and publications are primarily related to pediatric spinal deformity and spasticity management.

In her spare time, Dr. Hardesty is also a private pilot and chases around two small children.

Dr. Randolph Cohen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery. He earned his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine while completing a fellowship in molecular genetics of bone. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Participating hospitals included the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He was chosen to be chief resident in orthopedic surgery for the University of Pennsylvania residency program. He then completed a year of fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Scottish Rite Hospital for Crippled Children in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Cohen is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America and the American College of Surgeons.
